LANCASTER, SC::::::Mrs. Catherine Belk Taylor, age 90, died Monday, February 16, 2015 at Springs Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her two sons, Charles Jacob (Jacky) and his wife, Sharon and John David Taylor; her god-daughter, Rita Jamison, six nephews, one niece, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and countless friends.

Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong member of Unity Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and a member of the Snell Women's Circle. She and her husband began an endowment fund at Unity Church in 1998. Over the past 17 years, it provided scholarships to further the education of many church members.

Mrs. Taylor and her husband were lifelong educators and were employed as classroom teachers and administrators in NC, SC, and Florida. She retired from the NC school system. Mrs. Taylor enjoyed tutoring students in chemistry and biology after her retirement. She also enjoyed hearing about the accomplishments of her former students.

Mrs. Taylor was an avid reader and loved sharing books she had read with friends and neighbors.
She was a happy quilter, noted for her exquisite workmanship including tiny, perfect stitches. She was a member of several quilting groups and helped organize the Hickory Nut Quilters and was active in this group until her health prevented it. She quilted many, many quilts for children in the family and broader community. The Hickory Nut Quilters took an annual quilting retreat to Bonclarken which Mrs. Taylor organized. One of their quilts hangs over the fireplace at the Unity Dwelling cottage at Bonclarken. In recent months, she enjoyed attending the Springs Cardiac Exercise Program.

The Celebration of Mrs. Taylor's life will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Unity A.R.P. Church by Rev. Charles Hammond. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and in lieu of flowers, suggest memorial contributions be made to Unity A.R.P Church Endowment Fund, 3495 Unity Church Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
