HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Mrs. Carrie Sue Evans Harger, age 86, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 28, 1935, in Kyles Ford, TN, a daughter of the late Willie Watson Evans and Maggie Johnson Evans and was the loving wife of the late Allen L. Harger. Mrs. Harger loved to cook, travel, and visit her hometown in TN with her sister, Jane. Family and friends will remember her as a cheerful giver, kind, loving, and caring person. Mrs. Harger was employed with Springs Industries as a Weaver but retired doing something she dearly loved which was taking care of children at Rich Hill Daycare Center. Her family was most important to her, and she loved them all dearly; especially, all her grandchildren. Mrs. Harger was a member of a church her dad built, Davis Chapel Baptist Church in TN.
Mrs. Harger is survived by her son, Jeff Harger (Pam); her daughter, Jennifer Peagler (Eddy); seven grandchildren, Eddie Adams (Angie), Vanessa Whitaker, Josh Harger (Candace), Eddy Peagler, Jr, Tiffany Taylor, Michael McGinnis (Ashley), and Holly Peagler; twelve great grandchildren, Saylor Harger, Maddux Harger, Braylee Blair, Kalob Adams (Hannah), Evan Adams, Bennie Adams, Cady Peagler, Lori Peagler, Brooke Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Cameron McGinnis, and Alex McGinnis; four great-great grandchildren, Neveah Adams, Kendra Adams, Cason Taylor, and Neveah Taylor; a brother, Darrell Evans (Carmen); a sister, Virginia Branaman (Richard); and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Harger was preceded in death by her husband, Allen L. Harger; her parents; her stepmother, Viola Evans; two brothers, Arnold Evans, and Clyde Evans; and six sisters, Georgia Stidam, Nannie Mae Seals, Thelma Akemon, Jane Blackmon, Opal Evans, and Helen Evans.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC. The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Harger will be 11:00 am Thursday, October 7, 2021, at McNeil Funeral Home, 124 Church St., Sneedville, TN with Visitation prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the funeral home. Rev. Jeffrey Paul Seal and Rev. Curtis Seal will be officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Chapel Cemetery in Kyles Ford, TN.
