Carol
Hayes
December 17, 1946 – January 29, 2024
LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Carol-Ann Edith Hayes, age 77, passed away on Monday January 29, 2024. She was born December 17,1946 in Ajax, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Edward and Norah Bullock. Carol had a huge heart that was on display to everyone she came across. The most important thing in Carol's life was her family, especially her grandchildren, children, and loving husband. Carol spent much of her life volunteering and giving to others and truly cared about helping everyone. She was a devoted servant of God and was an active member of every church she attended. She loved gardening and was a talented and creative artist and crafter. She left the world a brighter place with the love she gave and the keepsakes she created that she will always be remembered by. She will be missed by all that she touched, and we know she is happy to be reunited with her family in heaven. Carol was a member of Christ Episcopal church where she served on the alter guild.
Carol is survived by her husband Keith Hayes; two sons, John Hile (Carrie) and Paul Hile (Alaina) and one daughter Gretchen Staples (Adam); four grandchildren, Ben, Bryan, Alexis, and Norah; and her sister Patricia Middlebrook (Gerald).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roly Bullock.
Her service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Christ Episcopal Church in Lancaster, SC. She will be cremated per her wishes with her ashes being spread in the mountains of Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Burgess Funeral Home in Lancaster, SC. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James House (www.thejameshouse.org/donate) a place that Carol was passionate about and was a volunteer for years.
