LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Carleen Courtney Ashley, age 77, died Monday, March 14, 2016 at her home. She was born September 25, 1938 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Carlisle Courtney and Marjorie Carnes Courtney and was the wife of the late Marvin Eugene Ashley, Sr. Mrs. Ashley was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and retired from Caswell Medical Associates of Charlotte as a Medical Transcriptionist. She loved tending to her flower gardens and loved the beach. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and was a member of Newell Baptist Church in Charlotte.
Mrs. Ashley is survived by a son, Marvin Bud Ashley, Jr. and his wife, Gwen of Rocky Point, NC; two daughters, Kelly Ashley of Greensboro, NC and Phyllis Stevenson and her husband, Rev. Glenn Stevenson of Fairmont, WW; and five grandchildren, Glenn Stevenson III and his wife, Katie, Nathan Stevenson, Aaron Stevenson, Milyssa Ashley and Marvin Ashley III.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Ashley will be 12 noon, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Newell Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Keith. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 12:00 noon, Friday at the church and suggest memorial contributions be made to Home Care and Hospice of Lancaster, 901 W. Meeting Street, Suite 201, Lancaster, SC 29720.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to her cousin, Doris Usher, in the sisterly love and care that she gave to their Mom.
