RIDGEWAY, SC ~ Mr. James "Byron" Privette, age 81, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at Pruitt Health in Ridgeway, SC.  He was born on October 2, 1939 in Lancaster, a son of the late Clyde James Privette and Willie Mae Jordan Privette and was the husband of the late Barbara Hyatt Privette.  Mr. Privette served his country in the United States Army.  Mr. Privette was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 36 years.  He loved sports and was an avid SC Gamecock Fan.  Mr. Privette enjoyed playing golf and coaching Little League Baseball in the 70's.  He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and loved to read his Bible.

Mr. Privette is survived by his son, James "Jim" B. Privette, Jr. (Tammy) of West Columbia, SC; his daughter, Josie Morgan (Mike) of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, Adam Privette of Irmo, SC, SrA David Privette USAF of Ellsworth AFB, SD, Noah Privette of Irmo, SC, and Dean Morgan of Myrtle Beach, SC; and his sister, Laura Nunnery (Jimmy) of Lancaster.

Mr. Privette was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Privette; and his parents.

The Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 12, 2020 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home.  For those who wish, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, PO Box 418, Lancaster, SC 29721.
