LANCASTER, SC – Mr. William H. Moore, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 4, 2026.
“Butch” as he was known to family and friends was born on October 12, 1944, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William Herman Moore and Eva Small Moore McCoy. He was the loving husband of Jerri Moore.
A man devoted to God and country, Butch’s hope was in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and honorably served during the Vietnam Conflict.
Butch retired from Springs Industries, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and leadership marked by wisdom and understanding. A graduate of the University of South Carolina he was a devoted Gamecock fan.
Above all, Butch was a family man. His family held a special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment spent with them. His love was steady and genuine, and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Jerri; his daughter, Leigh Moore Lever and her husband, Tom; his four grandchildren, William Thomas Lever, Patterson Elizabeth Small, Wylie Elizabeth Lever, and Eva Anne Small; a special friend, Jason Neal; and many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth “Meg” Small; his sister, Deborah “Debbie” Blackmon; and his brothers, Michael Moore and Jimmy Dwayne Moore.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Butch’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
