Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Carl "Butch" Cole, 71, died Monday, August 11, 2025, at his home in Lancaster. He was born on April 23, 1954, he was the son of the late Morrison Cole and Helen Cole. He was married to Dianne Cole. He worked for Springs Bleachery for 34 years and for RF Linkup for 15 years with the late Emerson Lawson. It was with Emerson where he was able to pursue some of his passions in videography and electronics. He and Emerson would travel to various NASCAR races throughout the years and various Carolina Panthers games to provide local TV coverage of these sporting events. They also visited Dollywood and worked with Dolly Parton twice per year. He also enjoyed building and making electronic gadgets and had his own screen-printing company, making T-shirts for various local events. Butch enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing. He was also heavily involved with Lancaster Motor Speedway for 45 years, where he and the late Francis Bell raced. Butch also did videography, including in-car cameras, as well as made t-shirts for drivers and events.

Butch is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dianne Terry Cole; his son, Nelson Cole and his wife Crystal; his daughter, Ann Cole; his two step-daughters, Lorrie Jenkins Mojica of Lancaster and Melissa Jenkins Dove and her husband, Chris, of Iron Station, N.C.; three brothers, Brian Barton and his wife, Teresa, David "Punk" Cole and Stephen "Nub" Bellue; seven grandchildren, Jessica Mojica, Eric Mojica, Nathan Dove and his wife, Emma, Brittany Dove, Garrett Dove, Brody Ainsworth and Colby Ainsworth; many special nieces and nephews; and a special uncle, Grady Snipes.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Paul Eugene Jenkins (Little Gene); his parents, Morrison and Helen Cole; one brother, Buddy Cole; and his grandparents, Eva and Odell Snipes.

The Celebration of Life Service for Butch will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 16, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Imogene Boykin, Sidney Alexander, and Joe Ghent. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Burgess Funeral Home and all other times at the house of Butch and Dianne Cole.
