LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. James Britton "Buddy" Wilson, Sr., age 79, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 10, 1942, in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late James Wilson and Claudia Avant Wilson and was the husband of Gayle McDougald Wilson. Buddy retired as a pipe fitter.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Alabama was home in the early 70's and Buddy still has many close friends there. Buddy was an avid golf player and also enjoyed playing pool. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. Buddy loved his family and spending time with them and his fur baby, Ava.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gayle Wilson; three sons, James B. Wilson, Jr. "Britt", Quentin Stafford (Jenefel), and Nicholas Wilson; two daughters, Teresa Hammons (Scott), and Sherri Funderburk (Gene); two grandchildren, Shanna Baker (Matt), and Bailey Wilson; a great grandchild, Ella Baker; a sister, Imogene Steele; and many close nieces and nephews.

Buddy was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Stafford; a daughter, Angela Stafford; a grandson, Brandon Threatt; his parents; three brothers, Raymond Whitaker, Jack Wilson, and Harry Wilson; and a sister, Belle Stiller.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Buddy will be 11:00 am Friday, March 4, 2022, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Dr. Jessie Adams.
