Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Luther Delbert (Bud) Wilson, 86, a resident of Lancaster, SC, born May 28, 1936, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, at Medical University Hospital/Lancaster.

Bud was a native of Taylor County, (Abilene) Texas, a son of Luther Delbert Wilson, Sr. and Ruth Hamilton Wilson, who predeceased him.  Surviving Bud is his lovely wife of 67 years, Lenda Catherine Sutton Wilson, whom he married July 8, 1955; Sons: Gary Lynn Wilson (Kathleen) of Iva, SC and Gregory Neal Wilson (Camille) of Huntersville, NC; Grandchildren include: Heather W. Summers (Scott); Josh Wilson; Christopher Tarkenton (Jessica); Amanda Nicole Wilson; Garrett Neal Wilson (Annie);  Michael Gagliardo (Tabatha);  Dominic Gagliardo (Cassidy); David Gagliardo;  and Christina Gagliardo Hager (Buddy).  Great-grandchildren include: Carter Summers and Gavin Summers; Audrey Elizabeth Wilson; Gabriel Wilson, Liam Wilson, Evangeline Marie Wilson, Juliana Grace Hager and Mariah Cheryl Hager. Bud was predeceased by his brother, Hollis Wilson, of Abilene, TX. Surviving are his brothers, Roland Wilson and Willis Boyd (Shorty) Wilson, both of Abilene, TX.

Prior to settling in Lancaster, SC in 2003, Lenda and Bud lived in several cities in Texas, including, Abilene, Odessa, Ft. Stockton, and San Angelo.  Bud's career included many years as a successful bank officer.  He very much enjoyed helping people, whether through his profession or in his personal life.

Lenda and Bud faithfully served the Lord wherever they lived, and several years prior to moving to SC Lenda and Bud were both instrumental in helping to plant a new church in San Angelo, Texas - Glen Meadows Baptist Church - which is still flourishing today. After moving to Lancaster, SC they both joined Covenant Baptist Church where they were actively involved as long as their health permitted.  One could not converse very long with Bud before the topic would turn to the goodness of God in his life. He leaves a beautiful legacy for his family and friends – the assurance of his salvation.  He was passionate about encouraging others to know Jesus and the urgency to be prepared for eternity.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 o'clock, at Covenant Baptist Church, Lancaster, on Friday, December 9, 2022 officiated by the Rev.
