LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Bonnie Mangum Spears, age 79, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born February 23, 1940 in Kershaw County, a daughter of the late Herbert Mangum and Mary Lee Oliver Mangum and was the wife of the late Billy Joe Spears. Mrs. Spears' family was a very important part of her life. She loved reading, music, playing the piano, working in her flower garden, singing in the choir and going to the beach. Mrs. Spears retired from Springs Industries and was also a caterer, having served at many weddings and birthday celebrations. She was a member of White Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spears is survived by a daughter, Pam Craig and her husband, Tim; and a grandson, Zachary Craig and his wife, Kelsey, all of Lancaster.
Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Spears, whom she loved dearly; and her parents.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Spears will be 3:00 pm Monday, May 13, 2019 at White Springs Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Mike Hammond and Rev. Tim Williams. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, in the Family Ministry Center and suggest memorial contributions be made to White Springs Baptist Church 1249 Grace Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720.
