LANCASTER, SC :::::::::: Mr. Bobby Green Monroe, age 82, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. He was born October 23, 1929 in Anson County, NC, the son of the late James Blake Monroe and Malinda Fay Hyatt Monroe was the husband of Katherine Brazell Monroe. Mr. Monroe worked for Cauthen Funeral Home for 50 years and for Springs Grace Bleachery for 38 years. He was a Mason with Hart Lodge, a Shriner with Jackson Shrine Club and a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mr. Monroe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Katherine B. Monroe of the home, 2 sons, Bobby Dennis Monroe of Hopkinsville, KY, Bobby "Butch" Green Monroe, Jr. of Lancaster, 3 daughters, Cynthia Hayes (Jerry) of Anderson, SC , Kathie Anne Carnes (Darrell) of Lancaster, Janet Lynn Gainey (Rick) of Lancaster, a brother, Lewis H. Monroe (Mary) of Columbia, 3 sisters, Mary Helen Vincent Harris of Union, SC, Dorothy J. Godwin (Ted) of Fayetteville, NC, and Ruth Monroe Britt (Kenny) of White Lake, NC, granddaughter and special care giver Allison Hayes of Lancaster and granddaughter, April Starbuck, 7 grandsons, Darrell Marshal Carnes, Jr., Judd L. Tripp, Thomas J. Monroe, Bobby Dennis Monroe,Jr., Jesse Greene Monroe, Blake Monroe, and Jeffery Monroe, and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Monroe was preceded in death by 4 brothers, J.B. Monroe, Jr., Tommy Monroe, Benjamin F. Monroe, and Zeb Monroe and 3 sisters, Marcie Ellen Monroe, Minnie Lee Bradley and Faye Candy. The Family will host a Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Monroe at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Westside Baptist Church by Rev. Todd Robinson. A private burial will be held at a later date. The Family of Mr. Monroe will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Thursday in the church and in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
