LANCASTER, SC~ Mrs. Bobbie Jo Burrell Barnes, age 89, passed away on May 9, 2020 at her home. She was born on September 24, 1930 in Great Falls, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Fred Burrell and Auggie Campbell Burrell and was the wife of the late James Oneal Barnes. Mrs. Barnes enjoyed cooking and working in her flowers. She loved spending time with her family and was also up for a shopping trip. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where she helped with many church activities. Her family and church family looked forward to anything she cooked. She loved her Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Barnes is survived by two daughters, Cathy Barnes Lloyd (Crawford), and Jean Barnes Phillips (Jerry); four grandchildren, Crawford Lloyd, Jr. (Katie), Justin Lloyd, Christopher Phillips (Brittney Donahue), and Jenna Phillips Brown (Daniel); four great grandchildren, Jackson Brown, Jessa Brown, John Brown, and Julianne Brown; two brothers, Gentry Burrell, and Percy Burrell (Helen); and three sisters, Aileen Brown (Harold), Jannell Reiter (George), and Sara Loving.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Barnes; her parents; four brothers, Angus Burrell, H.B. Burrell, Carlos Burrell, and Fred Burrell, Jr.; and four sisters, Miriam Crisco, Ruth Foster, Mamie Canupp, and Mae Byars.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Barnes will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Lancaster Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Marty Simmons. Due to ongoing public health concerns, the family asks that those who consider attending will use all judgement and discernment and follow the recommendations of the CDC and Governor.
