Obituary

LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Robert "Bob" Leslie Tripp, age 97, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at MUSC-Lancaster. He was born September 15, 1926, in Detroit, MI, a son of the late Leslie A. Tripp and the late Ellen M. Campbell and was the husband of the late Martha Ellen Duff Tripp.

Bob loved sharing his story to others and below is what he passed out to others everywhere he went:

My name is Bob Tripp and I would like to tell you about God's love, faithfulness and the good things that God has done for me and can, I'm sure, do for you. When I was in college something happened that changed my life forever! Several fellow students, veterans of World War II, befriended me and over the years they shared their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. They gave me key verses from God's Word like Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." And John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." They also encouraged me to read and study the Gideon New Testament that I had received when I was inducted into the US Navy in 1945. One Sunday evening in a church service God helped me to realize that even though I was a church member I wasn't a Christian. That evening in my room I knelt beside my bed and asked God to save me and forgive my sins. That moment my life changed forever. From that moment on I wanted to know and serve God with all my heart. I wanted to know God's Word and share it with others. Since that time, I have worked for Ford Motor Company, served two additional years in the US Navy during the Korean war, directed a Christian Serviceman's Center, taken Bible courses at Columbia International University and Linguistic courses at two different universities and at Hartford Seminary Foundation and served as a Bible translator with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Peru, South America for a period of thirty four years translating the New Testament into the Amarakaeri language and ministering in many ways to the medical and dental needs of the people. I have found through the years that God is faithful and God's Word is trustworthy and true. God has supplied all my needs and has given me happiness and fulfillment beyond my wildest dreams and an awesome loving wife, author of Jungle Jewels & Jaguars. As we believe in Jesus Christ we not only have forgiveness of sins but the hope of eternal joy in Heaven with God. Jesus said, "You are truly my disciples if you keep obeying my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31, 32. I urge you to entrust your life to Jesus Christ and find forgiveness and Eternal Life in Him. Bob

Bob's famous words were "God bless you and be a blessing"
