LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Billy McAteer, age 78, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at CMC -Union. He was born in Lancaster County, the son of the late Uite McAteer and Glennie Jowers McAteer and was the husband of the late Lucy Polston McAteer. Mr. McAteer was retired, a big race fan and loved racing at Lancaster Motor Speedway. Mr. McAteer is survived by 3 sons, Tony McAteer of Lancaster, Timmy McAteer and his wife Penny of Lancaster, and Mike Pete of Ferndale, FL, 5 daughters, Diane Stover of Ferndale, FL, Dale Whitaker and her husband Gary, Debbie Lucas and her husband Jim, Patty Estridge and her husband Billy and Michelle Barrett and her husband Scott all of Lancaster, 3 sisters, Ruth Mullis and Elsie Smith both of Lancaster, Verla Brasington of Burlington, NC, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Mr. McAteer was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Robert McAteer, Junior McAteer, Jake McAteer and Walter McAteer, and a sister Vang Johnson. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McAteer will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Camp Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Family of Mr. McAteer will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 at that church and memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
