LANCASTER, SC – Billy Wayne "Bill" Griffin of Lancaster, SC passed away on September 15, 2023.  He was 84.

He was the oldest of four sons born to William L. and Viola West Griffin.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor, his cherished son, Craig, and brothers Roger Griffin and Ron Griffin. He is survived by a daughter, Laura Griffin Morgan of Mooresville, NC, and a brother, Howard Griffin of Lancaster.

He proudly served in the US Army Signal Corp for six years, achieving the rank of Sergeant.  Bill was a broadcaster for both local radio stations, WLCM and WAGL, and worked at Springs Industries before joining Duracell, USA where he worked for many years. He retired from Duracell in 1997.

Bill had a great love of history with a vast knowledge of many world events - especially those surrounding World War II and the American West.  He and Eleanor enjoyed traveling and visiting historic sites within the US and Europe. They often traveled internationally, with their most memorable trip being to Australia to visit friends.

As per his wishes, no public service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to honor his memory to donate to his favorite charity, St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital - StJude.org.
