PINEVILLE, NC - Mr. William Robert Dacey, aged 86, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Atrium Health Hospital Pineville, Charlotte NC.  William (Bill) was born in Belleville, NJ, son of the late John Patrick Dacey and Minnie Elizabeth Harms Dacey.  Bill attended Belleville Grade School and High School, and served in the US Army PFC USAR, Rank SP-4, Private First Class with his last duty assignment in Germany TRP B 2D Reconnaissance Squad. Bill married the love of his life, Elvira (Vera) Marie Marchigiano in 1957 at Holy Family Church Belleville and lived there with their first-born daughter Deborah until 1966. During that time Bill attended night school over three years and graduated from The Newark College of Engineering in 1964 while supporting his family as a Production Supervisor at Resistoflex Corporation in Roseland, NJ. He worked for Resistoflex Corporation (later acquired by Crane Co.) with over 40 years of service to the company.

Bill and Vera moved to Wharton NJ in 1966 and raised their two children, Debbie and Billy in their first family-owned home. Bill was known to actively participate in all sporting and hobby events for both his daughter and son and continued that commitment throughout his four grandchildren's lives. Always heard cheering them on and yelling at umps from the sidelines, he tried never to miss a game, show, or event. Known as a "Buster", Bill was always teasing and kidding around with everyone he knew or met. Bill was invited to move in with his daughter Debbie and son-in-law James in 2016 into their home in Sun City Carolina Lakes, South Carolina where they cared for him until his death. There, Bill loved playing bocce, horseshoes, bingo, and driving around the neighborhood and trails in his golf cart.

Bill is survived by his daughter Deborah Dacey LoPiccolo (James) and son William John Dacey; and his four grandchildren Bryan Patrick Rooney, Lisa Christine Rooney, Matthew William Dacey, and Grace Joy Dacey.  Bill is also survived by eight nieces and nephews: John Patrick Dacey (Amy), Robert William Dacey (Joyce), Richard Dacey (Kristin), Erica Dacey, Karen Ann Wulff, Linda Jean Wulff, Scott Dacey and Nancy Dacey and ten grand-nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved and cherished wife Elvira (Vera) Dacey. Devastated when he suddenly lost his wife in death in 2002, he visited her grave every morning. As the last living child of his family, Bill's two brothers John Joseph Dacey (Barbara) and Richard Raymond Dacey (Barbara), and adoring sister Helen Jean Wulff (Heniz) preceded him in death.

A private family Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held for William in June 2021.
