LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Mrs. Betty Jean Wallace Poole, age 66, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Piedmont Medical Center. She was born March 23, 1946 in Monroe, NC, the daughter of the late Otis Wallace and Lula Plyler Wallace and was the wife of Erwin Dale Poole. Mrs. Poole retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Mrs. Poole is survived by her husband, Erwin Dale Poole of the home, a son, Chris Carnes, a daughter, Tonya Knight both of Lancaster, 3 brothers, Rev. Bobby Wallace and his wife Melva of Bishopville, Cecil Wallace and his wife Ellen of Lancaster, and Jack Wallace and his wife Ida of Lancaster, a sister, Doris McManus and her husband Rayvon of Lancaster, a special aunt, Peggy Carnes, a cousin, Susie Carnes and 6 grandchildren, Christopher Carnes, Dustin Carnes, Cristen Jade Carnes, Rachel Knight, Hannah Knight and Ethan Knight.

Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Wallace and a sister, Sudie Faye Smith.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Poole will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2013 at Union Baptist Church by Rev. Jackie Jenkins and Rev. Bobby Wallace. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Family of Mrs. Poole will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00pm Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Hartley - Burgess Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Tonya Knight, 3611 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster. The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or Union Baptist Church, Bus Fund, 5003 Taxahaw Road, Lancaster SC 29720.

Visitation Thursday, January 24th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Funeral 1:00 pm Friday at Union Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
