KERSHAW, SC ::::::::::: Mrs. Betty McCowan Stone, age 81, of 255 Harold Faulkenberry Road, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Kershaw Health Medical Center in Camden. She was born April 29, 1930 in Chester County, the daughter of the late Willie Lee McCowan and Carrie McCowan McCowan and was the wife of the late Willie Lee Stone. Mrs. Stone retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Stone is survived by 2 daughters, Peggy Payne of Kershaw, and Alice Catoe of Lancaster, a brother, 2 sisters, 5 grandchildren, Jonathan and Jason Payne, Wendy Phillips, Kim Twitty and April Holder, and 6 great grandchildren.Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee Stone. The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mrs. Stone will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Mike Hammond with inurnment to follow. The Family of Mrs. Stone will receive friends immediately following the service and in lieu of flowers suggests memorial contributions to Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 4684 Stoneboro Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
