LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Jenkins Starnes, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 24, 1954, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late BC Garris, Sr. and the late Willie Evelyn Brazzell Crenshaw. She was the devoted wife of Bobby Glenn Starnes, with whom she shared a life full of love and memories.
Betty was a woman who found her greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. She loved being at home, where her heart truly belonged, surrounded by the people she cherished most. Her family was her world, and she especially treasured every moment spent with the babies, who brought her endless happiness. She also held a special place in her heart for her best buddy, Max, and loved the time they spent together.
Betty had a kind and giving spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her selflessness, warmth, and gentle nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and the comfort she brought to those around her.
Betty is survived by her husband, Glenn Starnes; her son, Randy Jenkins (Nicole); her brother, Steve Garris; her sister, Emily Morganstern; her mother-in-law, Catherine Starnes; her brother-in-law, Phillip Starnes (Kim); her nieces, Kayla (Klayton) and their two daughters, Emma and Madelyn, Katlyn (Andrew), Kim, and Tammy; and many other special nieces and nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Billy Ray Douglas, BC Garris, Jr., Lois Clawson, and Kathy Beckham; and her father-in-law, James “Jim” Starnes, Jr.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Betty will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Fork Hill Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Adam Furr and Dr. Ken Pruitt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Fork Hill Baptist Church, Children & Youth, 1125 Fork Hill Rd, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
