HEATH SPRINGS, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Ruth Faulkenberry Rutledge, age 83, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Piedmont Medical Center. She was born September 4, 1938, a daughter of the late Thomas Faulkenberry and Annie Baker Faulkenberry and was the wife of Oscar Ray Rutledge. Mrs. Rutledge was employed with Springs Industries for over 30 years. She loved watching birds and working in her flowers. Family was very important to her and she loved her whole family dearly. In her earlier years, she always enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Mrs. Rutledge was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rutledge is survived by her husband of 48 years, Oscar Rutledge; her daughter, Ramona Rutledge; five sons, Dennis Lowery (Lisa), Louie Rutledge (Cindy), Roger Lowery (Kelly), Phillip Rutledge (Angie), and Fran Rutledge (Betsy); fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Faulkenberry; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Vincent.

Mrs. Rutledge was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lowery; a grandchild, two great grandchildren; her parents; two brothers, Harold Faulkenberry and Wilson Faulkenberry; three sisters, Sarah Rollins, Mazie Hendrix, and Linda Vincent; two brothers-n-law, James Rollins and Beckham Hendrix; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Faulkenberry.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Rutledge will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Oakhurst Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Sean Stroud and Rev. John Rogers. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 394 Barrett Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
