LANCASTER, SC::::::::::Mrs. Betty Wilson Hartsell, age 87, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the home of her son Joe and his wife Phyllis. She was born in Gastonia, NC. She was a daughter of the late Columbus E. Wilson and the late Annie Laura Wilson and was the wife of the late Conrad F. Hartsell. Mrs. Hartsell's favorite pastime was engaging in lively conversations with her family and friends. She was known for her sharp wit and "Roosevelt Democrat" political views. She was quite the dog lover and often called her sons by her favorite collie's name.
Mrs. Hartsell is survived by her sons, Joseph W. Hartsell and his wife Phyllis, Conrad Earl Hartsell, Carl Richard Hartsell and his wife Louise and a son-in-law John Watson. She was also survived by three sisters, Frances Towery and her husband Jim, Jane Price and Helen Withers, and a brother-in-law Bob Tate. She has six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hartsell was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad F. Hartsell, and a daughter, Loretta Watson.
The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mrs. Hartsell will be 11:00 am Friday, May 29, 2015 at Chester Memorial Gardens 945 West End Road, Chester, SC by Rev. David Sealy.
The family suggest, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 901 Meeting Street, Suite 201, Lancaster, SC 29720.
