LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Johnson Hartley, age 84, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at her home.  She was born April 12, 1935 in Jefferson, SC, the daughter of the late Duke Dalton Johnson and Geneva Eva Atkinson Johnson and was the wife of Frank Hartley.  Mrs. Hartley was the former co-owner of Hartley Appliance.  She enjoyed shopping, gardening and working in her yard.  She always put others before herself.  Mrs. Hartley was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hartley is survived by her husband of 68 years, Frank Hartley; two brothers, Jerry Johnson and his wife, Brenda of Lancaster and Sammie Surrell Johnson, Sr. and his wife, Rosa of Summerville; a special niece and caregiver, Kathy McAteer, and many other nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hartley was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert James Johnson.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Hartley will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Rusty McAllister.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 12:00-1:00 pm, at the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Kindred Hospice, 223 South Herlong Avenue, Rock Hill, SC  29732.
