LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Carol Ghent Adams, age 80, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at her home. She was born April 27, 1938 in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Carl Harrison Ghent and Roxie Dunlap Ghent and is the wife of Jack Arnold Adams, Sr. Betty retired from Springs Industries Customer Service Center. Betty enjoyed painting, working in her flowers and being outside when she could. She was a very talented seamstress and a great cook. Maw Jack loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchild. She was a charter member of the Women of the Moose and a member of Catawba Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack A. Adams, Sr.; two sons, Jack Adams, Jr. and Brian F. Adams and husband, Bobby Hinson; a daughter, Janet A. Sanders and husband, Joe; five grandchildren, Bobby Joe Sanders, Dana Carol Sanders, Laura Michelle Keener, Melissa Hinson and T.J. Bowen; eight great grandchildren, Joey, Morgan, Jordan, Dylan, Jacob, Savannah, Trip and Brody; a great-great grandchild, Jasmine; five sisters, Joanne Hartley and husband, Jerry, Pat Barton and husband, Richard, Marty Burgess and husband, Mike, Evelyn Finch and Barbara Barrett; and two brother and sisters in law, Bobby and Evelyn Leaphart and Pearleane and Bert Sanders.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bobby C. Ghent and Johnny M. Ghent and a sister, Mary G. Clemmer.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Betty will be 3:00 pm Thursday, September 27, 2018 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Sean Stroud. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 pm, one-hour prior to the service, at the funeral home and suggest memorial contributions be made to Catawba Baptist Church Building Fund, 1144 Riverside Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.
