LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Jean Fox Broome, age 89, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023. She was born January 12, 1934, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Loyd Frank Fox and Louise Wolfe Fox and was the wife of the late Charles Thomas Broome, Sr. Mrs. Broome was very active in the Lancaster Gardening Club, Lancaster Music Club, Lancaster Historical Society, VanWyck Women's Club, and the "Lunch Bunch". She was a very active member of Van Wyck Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder.  Her church was a very big part of her life and was very important to her.

Mrs. Broome is survived by her two sons, Tommy Broome (Jeannie) and Doug Broome; a brother, Jimmy Loyd Fox (Cheryl); and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Broome was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Broome; her parents; a brother, Thomas Hunter Fox; and two sisters, Marcene Fox Bailey and Linda Louise Fox.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Broome will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Carson Montgomery and Rev. Jimmy Fox. Burial will follow at Old Six Mile Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Van Wyck Presbyterian Church, PO Box 68, Van Wyck, SC 29744.
