LANCASTER, SC:::::Mrs. Betty Stogner Blakley, age 92, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her home. She was born March 17, 1925 in Lancaster, SC, the daughter of the late James Roddey Stogner and Estelle Neal Stogner and the wife of the late Samuel J. SJ Blakley. Mrs. Blakley loved gardening and taking care of her rose gardens. She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved sharing with others. She was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church, where she served as a past Sunday School teacher, VBS worker, and a member of the senior adults group.
Mrs. Blakley is survived by a son, Deryle Blakley and his wife, Dawn; two grandsons, Will and Jason Blakley; and two sisters, Carolyn S. Knight and Eva S. Alexander and her husband, Earl.
Mrs. Blakley is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. SJ Blakley; four brothers, Chad Stogner, Melvin Stogner, Willie Stogner and John Stogner; and two sisters, Louise Stogner and Emma Beaver.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Blakley will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Hyde Park Baptist Church by Rev. Charlie Simpson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, in the memorial center and suggest memorial contributions be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church, 1898 Flat Creek Rd., Lancaster, SC 29720.
