LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Betty Reeves Blackmon, age 94, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She was born November 29, 1928, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Hazel Reeves and the late Jessie Viola Crenshaw Reeves and was the wife of the late Thomas Blackmon. Mrs. Blackmon retired from Joslyn Clark Control as an assembler after many years. After retirement, Mrs. Blackmon worked two days a week at Pro-Clean Laundromat up until age 89. She was a very hard worker and loved to stay busy. Mrs. Blackmon was a long-time member of Westside Baptist Church. She sang in the choir and was the director of the social hall for many years.

Mrs. Blackmon is survived by her son, David Blackmon (Nancy) of Kershaw; her two grandsons, Kyle Blackmon, and David Michael "Micky" Blackmon, Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Roxanne Blackmon; and her special niece by marriage, Marsha J. Reeves.

Mrs. Blackmon was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Blackmon; her parents, Hazel and Jessie Blackmon; and her two brothers, Ted Reeves, and William Reeves.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Blackmon will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Westside Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Todd Robinson. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to, Westside Baptist Church, 2038 Airport Rd, Lancaster, SC 29720.
