LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Bertie Mae Langley Pitmon, age 96, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the Lancaster Convalescent Center. She was born February 18, 1919 in Camden, SC, the daughter of the late Steve Otis Langley and Cora Barrett Langley and was the wife of the late William Jesse Pitmon. Mrs. Pitmon was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 60 years. She often traveled with them on many Senior Citizen trips. She enjoyed her flowers and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Pitmon is survived by three sons, William J. Pitmon, Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Carl Lee Pitmon and his wife Glenda of Lancaster, Tony R. Pitmon and his wife Vicki of Mesa, AZ; three daughters, Betty J. Helms of North Myrtle Beach, Carolyn Pitmon Vaughan and her husband Chris of Columbia and Diane H. Snipes and her husband Grady of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pitmon was preceded in death by a son, Steve Franklin "Sammy" Pitmon; a daughter in law, Phyllis A. Pitmon, and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann "Kim" Burbach and Jerry E. "Eddie" Haile, Jr.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Pitmon will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Patrick Clark, Rev. Harold Owens and Rev. Mendel Baker. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Heath Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday evening, July 31, 2015 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 3731 Lynwood Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.
