INDIAN LAND, SC :::::::: Captain Benjamin "Ben" Odell Moore, age 44, died Saturday, August 3, 2013. He was born December 5, 1968 in Rock Hill, SC the son of Barry Moore and Patsy Ashley Moore and was the husband of Teresa Merritt Moore. Mr. Moore began his career in 1987 at the Indian Land Volunteer Fire Department where he served in various positions including being elected Chief. In 1994, he joined the Charlotte Fire Department and in June of 2010 he was promoted to Captain and was assigned to Ladder 26 - B Shift. Ben also currently held the position of Lieutenant at the Indian Land Volunteer Fire Department where he was nominated as Fire Fighter of the Year in 2012. Ben was also a member of Osceola United Methodist Church and the American Paint Horse Association.

Captain Moore is survived by his wife, Teresa Merritt Moore of the home, his parents, Barry and Patsy Moore of Indian Land, 2 daughters, Jessica Moore and Natalie Moore both of the home, a sister, Barrie Ann Marsh and her husband Jamie of Indian Land, a nephew Cooper Marsh and his father in law, Tommy Merritt of Indian Land.

The Celebration of Life Fire Fighter's Funeral Service for Captain Moore will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Osceola United Methodist Church by Rev. Harry K. Gindhart, Jr. and Rev. Tai Magette. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The Family of Mr. Moore will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00pm Tuesday evening, August 6, 2013 at Hartley Burgess Funeral Home and the family suggests memorial contributions to CFD Burned Children's Fund, c/o Charlotte Fire Dept.
