LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Ben Charles Hinson, Sr., age 80, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at MUSC Medical Center Lancaster.  He was born February 10, 1940 in Lancaster, a son of the late Amos "Driver" Hinson and Pauline Sims Hinson and was the husband of Bonnie Burgess Hinson.  Mr. Hinson graduated from Buford High School.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force (1958-1962).  Mr. Hinson worked for Springs Industries for 40 years and Springfield Inc. for 3 years.  Upon his retirement, he enjoyed working at the tackle shop on Spring Maid Pier in Myrtle Beach for several years.  Mr. Hinson was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church where he was a deacon, member of the choir, and a former Brotherhood director.  He loved his church and loved to sing.  Mr. Hinson's family was extremely important to him and he loved spending time with them.

Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Hinson; three sons, Ben Hinson, Jr. (Karin) of Lancaster, Jack Hinson (Dale) of Great Falls, and Greg Hinson (Melanie) of Heath Springs; seven grandchildren, JB Hinson (Jamie Lei), Chloe Hinson, Kolbie Hinson, Olivia Hinson, Chandler Hinson, Anna Hinson, and Hunter Hinson; a great granddaughter, Elleiana Hinson; a sister-in-law, Polly Neal Hinson; four nieces, Kimberly Hinson Carter, Ginger Hardin Small (Kevin), Joni Parker Hegler, and Kimberly Parker Blackmon (Kevin); and three nephews, Chuck Hardin (Susan), Scott Blackmon (Robyn), and Mark Blackmon (Susan).

Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Max A. Hinson; a sister, Nancy Hinson Blackmon; a nephew, Max "Bobo" Hinson; and a niece, Lynn Hinson.

The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Hinson will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2021 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Rusty McAlister and Rev. Dale Walters.  Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
