Obituary

LANCASTER, SC::::::::::: Mr. Basil Wilbur Bailey, age 69, died Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born November 27, 1945 in Lancaster County, a son of the late John T. Bailey and Evie Corbett Bailey and was the husband of Debra Roberts Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was the owner and operator of Bailey Construction. He enjoyed canoeing, scuba diving, white water rafting, and snorkeling. Mr. Bailey had a passion for building and flying model airplanes. He entered and won many ribbons and awards at model airplane competitions. He was an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 180, a great story teller and a master craftsman. Mr. Bailey was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Debra Roberts Bailey of Lancaster; a son, John B. Bailey of Lancaster; a step-son, Joshua L. Clayton also of Lancaster; two sisters, Vivian Bailey Williams and her husband Royce of Charlotte, and Gayle Bailey Helms of Lancaster; two nieces, Liz H. Payne and her husband Reggie of Lancaster and Andrea N. Williams of Charlotte; and one great niece, Summer E. Payne of Lancaster.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Bailey will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Luke United Methodist Church by Rev. Bill McCown. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The Family will receive friends Saturday, October 10, 2015, immediately after the service in the St. Luke Leisure Ministry Center and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
