LANCASTER, SC:::::::Mrs. Barbara Jean Gay Young, age 83, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at White Oak Manor. She was born in Charlottesville, VA, the daughter of the late Bernard Gay and Thelma Sutton Gay and was the wife of the late Willard Grover Young. Mrs. Young retired from Lancaster Cotton Oil Company after 22 years of service. She loved her family and friends and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Young is survived by two sons, Willard Gay Young and his wife, Robbie of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Robert Darryl Bobby Young and his wife, Lissa of Lancaster; a daughter, Cherie Young Walters and her husband, Rick of Lancaster; a niece Sharon Kersting Vinci and her husband, Bob of Tampa, FL; a nephew, Michael Kersting and his wife, Sandy of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren, Ryan Emerson Young, Tyler Manning Young, Christie Michelle Walters, Charles Andrew Drew Walters, Grayson Hughes Young, Jaden Thomas Young and Julie Watkins and her husband, Jason; and two great grandchildren, Rylee Grace Young and James David Watkins.
Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard Young and a sister, Carolyn Anne Kersting.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Young will be 11:00 am Friday, December 23, 2016 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home by Rev. Randy Hatcher. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Thursday evening, December 22, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter and son in law, Cherie and Rick Walters.
