WAXHAW, NC ~ Mrs. Barbara Lee DeFord Salisbury, age 81, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025. She was born on July 1, 1944, the daughter of the late George William DeFord and the late Evelyn Mae Turner DeFord and was the loving wife of Tom Salisbury. She had retired from Jaars after many years of service.  She enjoyed quilting and enjoyed sharing her talent with others.  She was a member of Walkersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Tom; her two sons, Clifford "Ariel" McKinstry (Paige) and Patrick McKinstry; her four grandchildren, Alexis, Heather, Patrick, Sky, and Aslinn McKinstry; her brother, George DeFord (Kathy); and her half-brother, Robert DeFord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn DeFord; and her half-sister, Sue DeFord.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Barbara will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, December 19, 2025, at Walkersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Waxhaw, NC officiated by Rev. Paul Rankin.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm, prior to the service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Jaars, PO Box 248, Waxhaw, NC 28173.An online guest register is available on the obituaries page at burgessfunerals.com.
