LANCASTER, SC ~ Ms. Barbara Sue Denton Horton, age 75, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She was born on June 24, 1949, a daughter of the late Albert Lee Denton and the late Sallie Hamilton Denton and was the wife of the late William Maxie Lee Horton. Ms. Horton was a loving mother, "Mawmaw Barbler", daughter, sister, and friend to all. She enjoyed spending her time cleaning, outside in the yard, by the pool with her "girls", family cook outs and fish frys, and going to the beach. She loved watching her "soaps" and playing card games, especially Left Right Center and Skip Bo. She was a classy lady who always loved to have her hair and nails done.  Ms. Horton was a member of The Lancaster Moose Lodge where she shared many friendships. She had an infectious smile that will leave a mark on us all.

Ms. Horton is survived by her son, Lee Horton (Wendy); her daughter, Melissa Privette (Mel); her four grandchildren, Brady Horton (Natalie), Riley Horton, Bryson Privette (Clarenda), and Brenton Privette; her great-grandson, Lawson Horton; her significant other whom she loved dearly for over 24 years, Joe Kaminer; her sister, JoAnn Mungo; and many special nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maxie Lee Horton; her parents, Albert and Sallie Denton; and her seven siblings, Kay Walden, Brenda Stallings, Vickie Faulkenberry, James Denton, Alvin Denton, Gene Denton, and Margaret Whitt.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Ms. Horton will be 3:00 pm Thursday, May 22, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Andrew Flippo and Dr. Pam Mungo. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, two hours prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home.
