LIBERTY HILL, SC ::::::::::Retired Master Sergeant Aubrey Edward Baker, Sr., age 69, of 2351 Little Creek Road, died Saturday morning, April 18, 2009 at Springs Memorial Hospital . He was born May 20, 1939 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Charles Edward Baker and Margie Hinson Baker. Mr. Baker retired from the United States Army having served 21 years and 2 tours in Vietnam. He later retired from the Lancaster County School District having served 22 years as the ROTC instructor and attended Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church. Mr. Baker is survived by his special friend, Agnes Cauthen of Liberty Hill, 3 daughters, Jennifer Baker Branham of Kershaw, Susie Baker Hall and Cheryl Anne Baker of Alabama, a son, Charles "Chuck" Baker of Alabama, a brother, Vernon Baker of Norfolk, VA, a sister, Yvonne Dyer of Hendersonville, KY, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a son, Aubrey Edward Baker, Jr.The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Baker will be 3:00 pm Monday afternoon, April 20, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Eugene Rollins and Rev. Gene Ghent with burial to follow with military honors at Lancaster Memorial Park. The Family of Mr. Baker will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 pm Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2009 at Hartley Funeral Home and the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
