LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Archie Dean Roddey, Sr., age 83, was called home to The Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2026. He was born in Charlotte, NC on October 3, 1942. He was the son of the late Bistle Woodrow “Joe” Roddey and the late Lucille Virginia Robinson Roddey, and was the loving husband of Elizabeth Jorene “Jo” Callahan Roddey.

Archie found joy in the simple things in life. He dearly loved his faithful dog, Molly, who was always close by and held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and just about any sporting event that was on television. In his younger years, he loved woodworking, and folks would tell you he was a true jack of all trades, always able to build, fix, or figure out just about anything.

Some of his favorite moments were spent out in his shop, relaxing on the backyard swing, or admiring old classic cars. And no day was complete without a bowl of ice cream, one of life's simple pleasures that always brought a smile to his face.

Archie leaves behind his wife, Jo Roddey; three sons, Dean Roddey, Jr., Tim Combs (Torie), Eric Smith (Janet); a daughter, Dale Michaux (Bill); six grandchildren, William Michaux (Brittany), Matthew, Madelyn, and Wesley Combs, and Chaney and Carter Smith; two great-grandchildren, Emilia and Eleanor Michaux, and another on the way; and many special friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lucille Roddey; and his brothers, Olin Woodrow Roddey and Russell Joe Roddey.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Archie will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home of Lancaster, SC officiated by Rev. Darrell Thompson and Rev. Charlie Simpson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Burgess Funeral Home.
