Obituary

LANCASTER, SC :::::::: Mr. Archie Smith Parker, age 77, died November 28, 2012 at his home. He was born February 5, 1935 in Lancaster County, the son of the late Eugene Archie Parker and Nellie Naomi Carnes Parker and was the husband of Vivian Burgess Parker. Mr. Parker was retired as an Assistant Superintendent in Screen Printing for Springs Industries - Grace Bleachery due to disabilities sustained in a motorcycle accident, after which he had a long career in the Heating & Air Conditioning Field. Mr. Parker was a lifetime member of Wannamaker Masonic Lodge #329, and a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. He also served our great country in the United States Army - Military Police. He was stationed on a top secret and highly restricted base that specialized in the development of nuclear weapons in White Sands, NM. Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Vivian B. Parker of the home, 2 daughters, Joni Parker Hegler and her husband Garrin, Kimberly Parker Blackmon and her husband Kevin, a brother, Robert "Bobby" Parker, Sr. and his wife Mildred, a sister, Doris Parker Johnson all of Lancaster, a grandchild, Lyndsey Rhae Hegler, 2 sister-in-laws, Virginia Hardin and Bonnie Hinson and her husband Ben, nieces and nephews, Chuck and Susan Hardin, Ginger Jenkins, Bob and Heidi Parker, Beth and Mark Johnson, Ben and Karin Hinson, Jackie and Dale Hinson, Greg and Melanie Hinson, Allison and Brian Welch, and 20 great nieces and nephews.Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Parker. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Parker will be 3:00 pm Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church by Rev. Heather Humphries. Burial with Masonic Rites and Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery. The Family of Mr. Parker will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Hartley - Burgess Funeral Home and memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
