LANCASTER, SC ~ Archie Carson Blackmon, age 63, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at McLeod Health in Cheraw, SC. He was born May 24, 1955, son of the late William Blackmon and Ruby McAteer Blackmon Baskins. In high school, he began working at Hyatt's News Stand, and later became a short order cook at Sambo's 903 grill. Archie was an ordained minister and pastored at Blood Bought Church in Lancaster, SC. He was a volunteer with the Children's Miracle Network and loved painting and crafts.
Archie is survived by two sisters, Elaine Gosnell of Lancaster, and Diane Porter and her husband, Jim of Liberty Hill, SC; two step brothers, Bill Baskins of Belton, SC, and Andy Baskins and his wife, Maggie of Fort Lawn, SC; a step sister, Carol Lawson and her husband, Dick of Carbondale, IL; two nephews, Jonathan Threatt, and Christopher Threatt and his wife, Ashley, all of Lancaster; and two nieces, Diana Joyner and her husband, Bobby and their children, Tinsley and Teagan, all of Columbia, and Sheri Brewington and her husband, Tyler and their children, Mathis and Trevor, all of Greenwood, SC.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Archie will be 4:00 pm, Friday, May 3, 2019 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00 -4:00 pm, one hour prior to the service. Burial at Lancaster Memorial Park will be private.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kelsie Cater, Elaine Knight, Helen Sims and Mike and Diane Jenkins.
