LANCASTER, SC::::: Rev. William Ansel Smith, age 84, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017. He was born February 7, 1932 in Greenville, SC, a son of the late Frank A. Smith and Annie Mae Mills Smith and was the husband of Ruth Turner Smith. Rev. Smith was a retired Pastor having served many churches and was a member of High Point Freewill Baptist Church.

Rev. Smith is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Turner Smith; two sons, Kelvin Smith of Williamsburg, VA and Kendell Smith and his wife, Gena of Lancaster; four daughters, Kathy Denton, Kim Pettit and her husband, Junior, Keyna Ashley and her husband, Michael, and Kelly Smith all of Lancaster; four sisters, Ellen Ramsey of Greer, Lucille Lamm of Manning, Doris Huffman of Greer and Vernell Smith and her husband, Tommy of Taylors; nine grandchildren, Katrina Sims, Donavan Pettit, Courtney Smith, Will Turner, Brittney Helms, Shana Ashley, Dilan Moore, Kyle Smith and Lindsay Smith; and eleven great grandchildren, Trent and Tyler Sims, Layla and Charlotte Smith, Sadie and Gray Turner, Trey, Jordan and Addison Grace Helms, and Hunter and River Frisell.

Rev. Smith was preceded in death by a grandson, Tony Jonathan Pate, five brothers, Albert Smith, Allen Smith, R. T. Smith, J. B. Smith and Wayne Smith; and four sisters, Miriam Pruitt, Mildred Melton, Sara Cook and an infant sister, Evelyn Smith.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Rev. Smith will be 3:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at High Point Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. David Sellers, Dr. Tommy Bryson and Rev. Roger Gosnell. Entombment will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, February 1, 2017 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest memorial contributions be made to a Church or Charity of your choice.
