LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Annette Shutts Wells, age 74, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Lancaster Convalescent Center.  She was born April 30, 1944 in Great Barrington, MA., a daughter of the late Willis J. Shutts and Alma Boucher Shutts.  Mrs. Wells was the wife of the late Charles Edward Wells.  She was loved by all who knew her and no one more than her two daughters.  Annette spent her life helping others.  She spent most of her childhood in Philmont, NY.  Due to her wonderful intellect, she was awarded a full scholarship to Cornell University, where she received her Master's in Education.  She spent her life as a Science Teacher in the Utica, New York area until her choice to become a full-time mother.  She eventually moved to Charleston, SC area with her family and finished her working career in Real Estate.  Annette loved to sing and did so in her church choir for many years.  Her voice will now be heard in heaven with the rest of the angels. She was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC.

Mrs. Wells is survived by two daughters, Christine Wells Shankey and her husband, Peter W. Shankey, of Charlotte, NC and Sarah Jane Wells of Charleston, SC; a granddaughter, Emily W. Shankey of Charlotte, NC.

Mrs. Wells is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Donald Shutts.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Wells will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Saint James Episcopal Church, 1872 Camp Road, Charleston, SC 29412 by Rev. Arthur Jenkins.
