LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Anne Funderburk McManus, age 83, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019. She was born October 30, 1935 in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Fletcher Raymond Funderburk and Elma Newman Funderburk and was the wife of Kenneth McManus.  Family was the most important part of her life.  She always enjoyed family time during the holidays, especially Christmas.  Mrs. McManus was a wonderful cook.  She also loved nature, gardening, bird watching, playing games and traveling. Mrs. McManus retired from Buford High School after 30 years of service and she was an active member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.

Mrs. McManus is survived by her husband of 65 years, Kenneth McManus; a son, Kenneth McManus, Jr. and his wife, Anita of Lancaster; a daughter, Valerie Simmeth and her husband, Gary of Waxhaw, NC;  four grandchildren, Leslie Prophet (Shawn), Matthew McManus (Morgan), Natalie Simmeth, and Tyler Simmeth (Taylor Boatwright); two great grandchildren, Carson and Virginia McManus; a brother, Raymond "Bud" Funderburk and his wife, Bonnie; a sister-in-law, Trudie Funderburk; a sister-in-law, Ernestine "Teenie" Rowan; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McManus was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald "Don" Funderburk and Manley "Buck" Newman; a sister, Nettie "Sis" Belk; a brother-in-law, Ralph Belk; an infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Funderburk; and a brother-in-law, Charles "Bill" Rowan.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. McManus will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, July 12, 2019 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Larry King. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC.  For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or the Alzheimer's Association for Research, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
