LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Ann L. Ghent, age 84, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at her home. She was born July 9, 1938, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Benjamin J. Adams and Maurice Catoe Adams and was the wife of Roddey B. Ghent. Mrs. Ghent enjoyed cooking, baking, working in her garden, word search puzzles, camping, and fishing with her husband. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply. Mrs. Ghent was a very active member of Camp Creek Baptist Church where she was a former leader of the Joy Club Group, taught Sunday School, Training Union, VBS, and worked in the nursery. She enjoyed going on mission trips where she was usually the head cook.
Mrs. Ghent is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roddey Ghent; her daughter, Tressa Hinson (Reggie); four grandchildren, Carla Coye (John), Tabitha Reynolds (Mike), Johnathan Ghent (Keely), and Jessica-Faith Howle; ten great grandchildren, Madison Reynolds, Austin Ghent, Hannah Coye, Raylee Ghent, Madelyn Coye, Trenton Ghent, Hunter Rae Reynolds, Tristan Ghent, Brittany Ghent, and Angel Ghent; former son-in-law, James Howle; and a large extended family.
Mrs. Ghent was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Ghent; her parents; four brothers, Yancey Adams, William Adams, Joe Adams, and T.J. Adams; and five sisters, Alma Catoe, Eunice Plyler, Dorothy Puco, Jessie Fay Cauthen, and Alice Steele.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Ghent will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Camp Creek Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Reggie Parker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the cemetery and other times at the home of Mrs. Ghent. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
