Obituary

LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Ann D. Floyd, age 89, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at her home.  She was born March 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Curtis Coleman Hilton and Mary Ethel Catoe Hilton and was the wife of Kenneth Earl Floyd.  Mrs. Floyd retired early from Springs Industries after 23 years, then she opened her own business, Frosty Top Ice Cream Store.  After 10 years of owning her own business, Mrs. Floyd then worked for Lancaster Red Cross for over 3 years.  She was a great seamstress and enjoyed this as her hobby.  Mrs. Floyd loved her family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  She was the first woman in South Carolina to be featured in the SC Wildlife Magazine.  Mrs. Floyd was a member of Lancaster First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 69 years and World Missions Director for over 20 years.  She loved her church, her church family, and supporting missionaries.

Mrs. Floyd is survived by her husband of 28 years, Ken Floyd; a son, Chris Alan Davis (Sherry Knight); a daughter, Vicki Lynn Davis Brazell; a daughter-in-law, Julie Davis; five grandchildren, Rev. Lonnie Brazell (Emily), Rev. Dwight Brazell (Jodi), Colt Davis (fiancée, Sarah Gilliam), Courtney Davis (Johnathon Ellis), and Paisley Davis; eight great grandchildren, Devin Aycock (Christin), Brittany Aycock, Leah Brazell, Dalton Brazell (Lauren), Carrie Brazell, Makenzie Brazell, Hailey Ellis, and Abby Ellis; two brothers, Raeford Hilton and Johnny Hilton; and a sister, Myrtis West.

Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard "Bill" Strait Davis, Sr.; a son, Richard "Frog" Strait Davis, Jr.; a son-in-law, Rev. Allen Brazell; a granddaughter, Amanda Brazell Aycock; and two sisters, Maxine Moore and Jane Ellis.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Floyd will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Lancaster First Pentecostal Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Jimmy Lambert and Rev. Timothy McKenzie.  Burial to follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lancaster First Pentecostal Holiness Church Missions, PO Box 256, Lancaster, SC 29721.
