MATTHEWS, NC::::::::::: Mrs. Anita Mae Taylor Killion, age 80, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Plantation Estates in Matthews NC. She was born March 27, 1930 in Calico Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William Wallace Taylor and Katherine Vera Blair Taylor, and wife of the late Mr. Ralph E. Killion. Mrs. Killion received a BS in Nursing from the University of Illinois, a MS in Education from University of Central Arkansas and retired from Nursing in Rock Hill, having taught at Winthrop University, a member of Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews, NC, and a former member of Covenant Baptist Church in Lancaster. A devotee of Jesus Christ, Mrs. Killion began and ended her adult life with missionary work, first in Columbia, South America, during college and more recently twice in Romania, serving as a nurse. Throughout her life, she supported missionary work. Mrs. Killion is survived by 2 sons, Mark A. Killion and wife Nancy, of Media, PA, Steven B. Killion of Fuquay-Varina, NC; a daughter, Teresa "Terry" Hess and husband Robert of Matthews NC; and 4 grandchildren, Taylor and Adrienne Hess, Elizabeth Ann and Richard Killion. Mrs. Killion was preceded in death by a brother, James B. Taylor and 3 sisters: Nellie Herron, Virginia Cornelius, and Miss Helen Taylor.The family of Mrs. Killion will hold a Memorial Service at 11am, Saturday, October 30th at Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Drive, Matthews, NC; and a Celebration of Life Graveside Funeral Service and Burial for Mrs. Killion will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Tirzah Presbyterian Church Cemetery with another Memorial Service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Hartley Funeral Home by the Rev.
