LANCASTER, SC - Mr. Aniello Neal Zarrelli, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born January 1, 1930 in Naples, Italy, a son of the late Josephine Zarrelli Socomosto and was the husband of Lois Ann McLeod Zarrelli. Mr. Zarrelli was an Opera Singer and local business owner. He sang the National Anthem for the Charlotte Knights, Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets games, and loved to sing Ava Maria at many friends weddings. Mr. Zarrelli owned and operated four restaurants in the Charlotte/Belmont area. Mr. Zarrelli served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a lover of classic cars and the arts. He enjoyed working the farm and his garden. Mr. Zarrelli was a member at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Lancaster, SC.
Mr. Zarrelli is survived by his wife, Lois Zarrelli; children, Stephen Glynn (Claudia), Anthony Zarelli (Renee), Felicia Watson, JoBeth Hebard (Richard) and Peter Berardi; a sister, Maria Turano; two nieces, Michelina Hagaman and Daniella Acito; a nephew, Anthony Turano; and fourteen grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Zarrelli will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. Catherine Catholic Church by Father Javier Heredia. Reception to follow the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 6000 Fairview Rd #305, Charlotte, NC 28210.
