LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Angela Frey Peterson, age 90, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born in Dickinson County, Iowa to Gus and Esther Frey. Mrs. Peterson attended high school in Milford, IA and later earned her teaching certificate from Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. For two years, she taught third grade in Cherokee, Iowa and later substitute taught in Spirit Lake and Milford, Iowa. She married her sweetheart, Lee Peterson, and to them were born two daughters. They farmed in Dickinson County, IA and Jackson County, MN until their retirement.
Mrs. Peterson was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was most happy when she could spend time with friends and family. When speaking of her grandchildren, she would eagerly share how much she loved and prayed for each of them. Mrs. Peterson loved her Lord and Savior. She was active in Spirit Lakes CrossWinds and Worthingtons First Covenant churches where she attended, serving in various capacities. Her personal ministry was visiting and encouraging shut-ins, often bringing one of her homemade angel food cakes. When her health declined, and she was no longer able to live alone, she moved to Lancaster, South Carolina in 2011 to live with her daughters family. She passed away peacefully from dementia complications at her daughters home.
Survivors include her daughter Leanne and husband Ken Bailey of Lancaster, SC; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Lee Peterson; her youngest daughter, Beth Best and husband Terry Best; and her sister, Arlene Frey Griggs and her husband A.C. Griggs.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Peterson will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Covenant Baptist Church by Rev. Jim Osteen. Burial will be at a later date in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
The family will receive friends following the service in the sanctuary and suggest memorial contributions be made Covenant Baptist Church, PO Box 578, Lancaster, SC 29721 or JAARS, PO Box 248, Waxhaw, NC 28173 (please include a note if a specific department or project is preferred).
