LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mrs. Amy McKinnon Saylors, age 55, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was born October 8, 1958 in Newberry, SC, the daughter of Barbara Anne Lemmond McKinnon and the late Charles Laughlin "Lock" McKinnon, Jr. and was the wife of Joel Dean Saylors. Mrs. Saylors was a transplant recipient and participated in swimming and several United States Transplant Games and twice in the World Transplant Games. She won several medals including the Gold in the United States Games. She was a volunteer lifeguard and taught swimming lessons at various swimming organizations. Amy was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder and on various church committees.
Mrs. Saylors is survived by her husband, Joel Dean Saylors, her Mother, Barbara Anne Lemmond McKinnon of Lancaster, a daughter, Ashley Saylors Boan and her husband Justin of Columbia, a brother, Charles L. "Dick" McKinnon, III and his wife Donna of Lancaster, a sister, Kitty M. Pruitt and her husband Wayne of Statesboro, GA, four grandchildren, Skylar, Natalie, Autumn, and Zackery of Columbia, a niece, Kelsey Pruitt of Athens, GA, two nephews, Cody Pruitt of Charleston, SC and Chip McKinnon and his wife Erica of Lancaster, and a great niece and nephew, Emmaleigh and Ricky.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Saylors will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. William "Chip" Summers. Inurnment at Turkey Creek Cemetery in Bethune will be 3:00PM.
The Family of Mrs. Saylors will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the home of her brother and sister in law, Dick and Donna McKinnon, 182 Holiday Road, Lancaster.
