LANCASTER, SC – Mr. Alvin Ray Hammonds "Hacksaw", age 75, passed away Friday May 2, 2025. He was born December 31, 1949, in Monroe, NC, a son of the late J B Hammonds and the late Lessie Mills Hammonds and was the loving husband of Rosemary Mackey Hammonds. Mr. Hammonds enjoyed cooking, dancing, horseback riding, and sitting under his shed. He had a very strong work ethic, and he passed this along to his children and grandchildren. Family was very important to him, and he loved them all dearly, especially his grandchildren, who in his eyes could do no wrong.

Mr. Hammonds is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rosemary Hammonds; three daughters, Sandy Wemes (Jason), April Carnes (Chris) and Angela Guerrero (Juan); eight grandchildren, Kristin Wemes, Jamie Hinson, Natalie Mangum, Michael Hinson, Cody Garcia, Ciara Wemes, Matthew Garcia, and Sophia Guerrero; two great grandchildren, Reece Miller and Sadie Miller; four brothers, Robert "Bob" Hammonds (Kathryn), James King Hammonds (Frances), Carroll Hammonds, and John David "Bo" Hammonds; four sisters, Doris Bobb (Robert), Avis Hammonds, Sarah Pendravis (Woody), and Sue Lee Moore (Chester); a large extended family; and his best friends, T.C. and Barbara Carnes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J B and Lessie Hammonds; and two brothers, Burris Edward Hammonds and Ernest Eugene Hammonds.

The Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Mr. Hammonds will be 11:00 am Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Randy Mellichamp.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
