MONROE, NC::::::::: Mr. Alonzo Rice III, age 45, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He was born September 26, 1969 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Marie Daniels Rice and the late Alonzo Rice II and was the husband of Elizabeth Melendez Rice. Mr. Rice was employed with Wesco/Data Communications and was of the Rastafarian faith. He loved music, enjoyed singing and played the saxophone. He was very giving and family was very important to him.

Mr. Rice is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Melendez Rice, his mother, Marie Daniels Rice of Mullins, a daughter, Keri Gerald of Florence, three brothers, Claude Howard, Donte Rice and Al Rice all of Mullins, two granddaughters, his mother and father in law, Aida and Onofre Melendez, two brothers in law, Richie Melendez and Frankie Melendez, two sisters in law, Mari Melendez and Kay Melendez, a niece, Samantha Melendez and nephew, Michael Melendez all of Charlotte.

The family will have visitation at their home from 12:00 - 7:00 pm Saturday, August 22, 2015. The eulogy will be 4:00 pm by Rev. Elvis Coleman.

Mr. Rice was an organ donor. Because of his love for people his organs are being used to benefit the lives of others. The recipient of his liver is doing well.
