LANCASTER, SC::::::::::: Mrs. Alma McAteer "Granny" Neal, age 82, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at her home. She was born October 24, 1931 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Caldwell McAteer and Edna Pardue McAteer and was the wife of the late Herbert Arthur Neal. Mrs. Neal retired from Springs Industries after 40 years of service. She was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church, a member of the Garden Club and the 49ers. She was known by many as "Granny" , a lady who adored her family and friends.

Alma is survived by a daughter, Teresa Evans and her husband Kelly, a son, Jimmy Neal and his wife Karen, two granddaughters, Meredith Steen and her husband Tim and Keli Lathan Thomas and her husband Shawn, and 2 great granddaughters, Hannah and Ali Steen. Alma was one of five children and is survived by a brother, Luther McAteer and two sisters, Barbara Catoe and Della McManus.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Caldwell McAteer, her husband, Herbert "Hub" Neal, a son, Tony Neal and a sister, Janie Thomas.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Neal will be 4:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Zion United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Burgess and Mr. Rob Wood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and suggest memorial contributions be made to Zion United Methodist Church, Tony Neal Scholarship Fund, Children's Ministries at Zion or the General Fund.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Neal will be 4:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Zion United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.
