LANCASTER, SC :::::::::::Mrs. Aline Hough Baker, age 91, died February 21, 2013 at White Oak Manor. She was born October 8, 1921 in Lancaster County, the daughter of the late Heyward F. Hough and Zelma Faulkenberry Hough and was the wife of the late Buford Baker. Mrs. Baker had worked for Springs Industries, Roses Dept. Store, Allied Dept. Store and the Lancaster Bakery. She had a loving heart and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and her flower garden. Mrs. Baker was an active member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church where she served on the Bereavement Food Committee, the Preschool and Nursery and later in life at the age of 81 participated in the Adult Missions Team.
Mrs. Baker is survived by 3 sons, Jerry Baker, Carson Baker and Jimmy Baker and his wife Diane, 2 daughters, Delores Snipes and her husband Charles and JoAnn Steele and her husband Wayne all of Lancaster, a brother, Clyde Hough of Lancaster, 2 sisters, Juanita Laney of Monroe, NC and Sara Tillman of Columbia, SC, 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Buford Baker, a son, Rex Baker, a daughter, Dianne Baker, 3 brothers, Billy, Clarence and Willie Hough, a sister, Bernice Taylor, 2 grandsons, Dean and Jason Baker, and 2 great grandchildren, Creigan Steele and Jeremy Baker.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mrs. Baker will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church by Rev. Kenneth Baker, Rev. Chris Tipton, and Rev. Jessie Adams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Family of Mrs. Baker will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary and at other times at the home of her granddaughter, Leslie Snipes. The family suggests memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, 901 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or American Cancer Society, Lancaster Co.
